Summer is just a step away, and those days of full sun and heat are beginning to arrive in which we think about which beach we will visit this summer, our vacation destination. Well, let's talk about ten beaches in Spain in which we would like to lose ourselves from now on, to spend the summer in them, because they all have a special charm.
From beaches located on islands that seem like the Caribbean to beautiful urban beaches or those with locations in natural spaces, they all have a lot to offer. Especially large sandy areas for sunbathing, clean and clear waters in which to bathe and hours of relaxation in front of the sea. You can't ask for more for this summer 2017.
Rodas Beach, Cíes Islands
The one that was chosen as the best beach in the world by the British newspaper The Guardian may well hold this title. There are several reasons that make it a perfect beach to spend the whole day. The Cíes Islands are on the scene of the Atlantic Islands National Park, natural Protected Areas. It can be reached by ferry from Vigo and other points on the Galician coast. The journey is worth it. The beach of Rodas is located next to the port, so there is little to walk to get to it. Its waters are very clear and the sand is fine and soft. It has been compared to a Caribbean beach, although with the cold waters of the Atlantic.
Cathedrals Beach, Lugo
We continue in the north, and in Galicia there are some of the most spectacular beaches in Spain. We have the Playa de las Catedrales in the north, in the Mariña of Lugo. A beach that stands out for being a place to go for a walk and take photos of those rock formations so amazing that with the centuries and the erosion will end up disappearing. Of course, we must know the tides, because at high tide the beach itself disappears into the waters and only part of the rocks can be seen. You have to go to it when the tide is out to fully enjoy it.
Bolonia Beach, Cádiz
In Cádiz there are also some incredible beaches, so it can be a perfect vacation destination. One of the most famous is undoubtedly the beach of Bolonia. This place not only has natural beauty, being a protected area, but also has its historical importance. On the one hand we have the dunes, which move every year, and through which we can walk. On the other hand are the Baelo Claudia ruins. These Roman ruins are an archaeological site, and it was a small coastal town that grew back in the second century BC.
Papagayo Beach, Lanzarote
In the south of the island of Lanzarote we find the Papagayo beach. The different coves and beach areas are separated by rocky crags with low altitude, which means that on the beach you can enjoy different coves with a little more privacy. From here you can also see the islet of Lobos and the island of Fuerteventura, while you bathe in the turquoise waters.
Cofete beach, Fuerteventura
This beach is a must-see on the island of Fuerteventura. It stands out for its unspoiled nature, for being surrounded by natural areas, like one of those beaches that are discovered in the middle of nowhere, and also because its length is enormous, some 12 kilometers of arenal to enjoy. Of course, if we bathe we must know that the waters have currents, and that it is better that we be experts.
La Concha beach, San Sebastián
This beach has been voted the best beach in Europe and the sixth best in the world by Tripadvisor users in the Traveller's Choice. Without a doubt, urban beaches do not have the same charm as those surrounded by natural areas, but they can also be the best. In this case we have the san sebastian beach, which has always been considered a good beach, with a lot of quality and perfect for families.
Ses Illetes beach, Formentera
This is a sandy area on the island of Formentera that has become one of the best. Its almost transparent water will give us the impression that we are bathing in a pool. The sand is very clear, we are a paradise for tourists who come to Formentera looking for beautiful beaches. Although obviously nowadays there are quite a lot of public due to how beautiful it is.
Monsul beach, Almería
This beach of Cabo de Gata natural park is famous for being in an Indiana Jones movie. But it is also a sandy area full of peace in the middle of nature. We can reach the beach by a forest track from the town of San José, by vehicle or on foot. It is certainly worth visiting.
Es Trenc beach, Mallorca
This beach is located in the southeast of the island of Mallorca, in a protected natural area. It is one of those ideal beaches to rest, with clear waters, clear sand and not excessively crowded, not even in high season. Certainly a perfect place to discover Mallorca. And it has an area for those who wish to do nudism.
Cala Macarelleta, Minorca
Cala Macarelleta is the smaller cove that accompanies the Macarella cove, in Menorca. They are coves that are usually just as crowded in high season, but not the rest of the year, and they are really beautiful places, with their clear waters and among rock formations.
