In the previous post we talked about many of the main cities and areas to visit in Sardinia. Without a doubt it is indisputable that if we go to the island we will visit Cagliari or Alghero, but the truth is that there is much beyond the most touristy areas, so this time we will tell you some well-known places and others that are not so.
Sardinia is a very touristy island and it is difficult to find places that are quiet in high season, but there is always a town where you can take shelter to enjoy greater tranquility. In this last selection there are also some important places for their deposits or for being places of leisure.
orgosolo
Orgosolo would be a simple and quiet town in Sardinia if it weren't for its vindictive murals, which fill everything with enormous creativity. These murals mix with the simple life of the villagers and give this place a unique charm. Today it is one of the essential visits of the island, to surprise us with the large number of murals and works that are in its streets. The tradition of the murals began with a group of Milanese anarchists in the year 69. This was the beginning, but today more than 150 murals can be found scattered around the town. This town is in the interior of Sardinia and was formerly a place of bandits. Today it receives visits from those who want to see its murals, but it is not a very touristy place.
Bosa
From a town full of murals we went to a town full of colors. Bosa is characterized by crowded and colorful houses, giving rise to an authentic painting of tones that mix with each other. Within this city it is possible to visit some interesting things, such as Casa Deriu, which is a museum with several floors, or the Cathedral of the Immaculate. Above the town rises the Castle of Malaspina, from which we can have a wonderful view of the surroundings.
Porto Cervo
Porto Cervo is one of the main places in the famous Emerald Coast. It is a very lively place, oriented towards luxury tourism. In this place you can enjoy a huge marina full of yachts in summer, with all kinds of restaurants and bars. In addition, it is the ideal place to go shopping, with exclusive brands in the city center. Another of the main attractions of Porto Cervo is the nightlife, since it has discos and places to enjoy a good party.
barumini
La Nuragic village of Barumini It is an essential visit if we want to know a little more about the history of the island. This excavation of the 50s brought to light the archaeological remains of the first population settled on the island of Sardinia, and its stupendous conservation makes it the most important on the island. It is possible to see the circular constructions that made up the homes of these people who populated the island many centuries ago. These remains show that this area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age.
Gorropu Gorge
This famous area is one of the deepest canyons in Europe, originated by the erosion of the Flumineddu River. Entering the gorge is a paid activity, and the walk lasts more or less an hour, depending on the time we take to enjoy this natural place. There are some waterfalls and water in some areas, with a variable channel, so the best time to visit is summer or spring. For those who are not in such good shape, there is no problem as there are three different trails with various levels of difficulty to choose from.
Gulf of Orosei
If, after so many towns and excursions, the only thing we want is to rest, we have places like the Gulf of Orosei, with impressive beaches. In this area there are many small coves and beaches, highlighting some such as Cala Goloritzé or Sirboni beach. It is possible to take routes by road, but it is also an area that can be accessed by boat.
Sassari
Sassari is another important city of Sardinia. It also has great nearby beaches, making it an increasingly touristy place. In it we can see the Castle of Sassari, leaving only six defensive towers of the original construction. The Cathedral of San Nicolás, from the XNUMXth century and in the Romanesque style, is another of the jewels of this city. Do not miss the Calle de la Marmora, a place where the gentry lived centuries ago, and which today still preserves beautiful buildings.
San Pantaleo
We end with the small town of San Pantaleo. If we get tired of places full of tourists, we have this traditional town, located a few kilometers from the coast. In it we can enjoy great tranquility, the typical lifestyle on the island and artisan shops that work all kinds of materials.
