It is not strictly produced during spring but it has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest and is well worth visiting. At that time, this Cantabrian town was the summer destination for the Spanish bourgeoisie and the Battle of Flores was born as a celebration to say goodbye to the summer impregnated with sophistication and artistic refinement.

Starting in the 60s, the Battle of Flores underwent changes driven by the emergence of mass tourism, but it was at the beginning of the XNUMXst century that the most spectacular editions in the history of the Battle of Flores took place due to its size and quality. of the competing floats.

The parade of ornate floats is the great protagonist of the party and all compete for the first prize. On the eve of the big day, known as Night of the Flower, the participants work tirelessly to make their float the most beautiful.

As a curiosity, it should be noted that the Laredo City Council offers a free tourist train service that makes the route through the different locations of the floats during the Night of the Flower so that visitors can observe the process in detail.

On the day of the parade, the floats circle the Alameda Miramar circuit three times, accompanied by music and applause. When the contest ends and the winner is chosen, the floats are transported to a narrow street of the circuit to be exposed for a whole weekend.
