As every year, Madrid installs several ice rinks in different parts of the city for those who want to enjoy a Christmas day of sports outdoors. However, there are also several tracks open throughout the year. As a novelty, introductory courses have been programmed so that the little ones can get a taste for skating.
Cibeles Palace Crystal Gallery
CentroCentro Cibeles becomes the ideal place to enjoy skating on its ice rink located inside the Crystal Gallery of the building. During Christmas 2017, anyone who wishes can go to the Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid to slide down its 400 m2 track next to a large Christmas tree.
CentroCentro Cibeles will also host an extensive program of storytelling and creative workshops. Meanwhile, the elderly will be able to rest and regain strength in the cafeteria of the Crystal Gallery.
The entrance to this ice rink costs 6 euros for the rental of the equipment and about 30 minutes of skating. It will be open from December 21 to January 5.
Columbus ice rink
Two 300 m2 ice skating rinks have been installed in the iconic Plaza de Colón in Madrid. Both are inspired by the well-known rinks at Rockefeller Center in New York or the ice rink at the Museum of Natural History.
The entrance to this ice rink located in the Discovery Gardens is free and they even offer the possibility of receiving introductory skating courses. Between December 14 and January 7 you can enjoy a day outdoors with the whole family in the heart of Madrid.
Villa de Vallecas ice rink
This Madrid neighborhood has also inaugurated its own ice rink this Christmas, which is located on Paseo Federico García Lorca and has 104 m2. Next to it, a reading booth has been installed to promote this fun habit among children with the initiative «Skating on letters». The booth has more than 1.500 books distributed in its more than 90 m2 with a range of the most varied in terms of literary genres. Once Christmas is over, all those books will be donated to the city's public libraries.
The entrance to the Villa de Vallecas ice rink is free and it will remain open from December 1 to January 8.
Vicálvaro ice rink
At the Vicálvaro fairgrounds, this Christmas an ice rink has been installed that will delight children and parents, because it is free. In addition, like the Colón rink in Vicálvaro, they offer introductory ice skating courses. Those who want to come and try can do so between December 11 and January 7.
Plaza de la Luna ice rink
In the center of Madrid, next to Gran Vía, is the Plaza de la Luna ice rink. The one-hour ticket costs 5 euros, except on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, which costs 7,50 euros. To skate it is necessary to use gloves, which are sold on the track itself for two euros. The Plaza de la Luna ice rink will be open throughout Christmas between 10am and 22pm.
Berlin Park ice rink
Between December 9 and January 7, this Madrid park will host a 200 m2 ice skating rink for anyone who wants to enjoy doing some sport these holidays. During the week, the ticket is priced at 5 euros while the weekend costs 7,50 euros and the rental of the skates is included in the price.
Ice Palace Dreams
Located inside a huge shopping center, this ice rink is open all year round and is perfect for hockey, figure skating, throwing a birthday party or taking some skating lessons. It has dimensions of 1800 m2. To skate it is necessary to wear gloves and the entrance costs between € 7,50 and € 15,50 depending on the hours or if we want to rent the skates.
Leganés ice rink
With its 1450 m2, this ice rink is one of the largest in Madrid for skating. It is open all year round and has the peculiarity that they offer figure skating classes. Ticket prices are around 6,50 or 7,50 euros depending on the day and time.
