Greek islands

Greece is a dream country. A paradise for lovers of history, art and gastronomy in the Mediterranean. It has a good number of interesting corners to discover, although the most popular among tourists are Athens and the Greek Islands.

Whether it is a family vacation, a weekend getaway or simply enjoying the serenity of the beach, the Greek Islands are a wonderful destination to visit once or several times. After all, the Greek Islands are one of the most spectacular treasures of this magnificent country.

Santorini

It is likely that when we think of the Greek Islands, the first that everyone comes to mind is Santorini, a perfect combination of archaeological sites, exotic beaches and beautiful sunsets with the Aegean Sea in the background.

Surely you have seen more than once the typical postcards of houses painted white with their domes contrasting with the bright blue of the sea. Although the beaches are exotic, they are not the most spectacular in Greece, although there is something for all tastes: for example, Kamari has black sand while Red Beach and Kameni Beach have waters rich in iron and sulfur.

The capital of Santorini is Fira. Some of the most interesting places to see here are the Orthodox Cathedral, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Prehistory or the Church of the Three Bells.

As so much activity on the island whets your appetite, nothing better than stopping at a restaurant to try traditional local dishes such as chicken or pork gyros, mousaka or seafood.

Mykonos

It is the most popular stop for fun seekers and has earned a reputation for bringing together the best pubs in the Greek Islands. If you like to party, in this little piece of the Cyclades you will find your paradise.

Chora or Mykonos Town is the center and the capital of the island. This is where most of the hotels, shops and restaurants are located, so the atmosphere is very lively, especially at night. In Chora the bars for a drink are concentrated in Little Venice and the discos on the beaches of the south of the island.

However, it is well worth getting to know the quieter side of the city at dawn, either early in the morning or coming back late from partying. There are hardly any people on the streets and it seems like a totally different place, full of tranquility.

Corfu

Corfu, one of the best Greek islands, was the hiding place that Jason and the Argonauts chose after stealing the Golden Fleece. At present, the capital of the island is a place full of charm with varied restaurants, shops and a lot of nightlife.

The city maintains that authentic air of the less visited areas, with old buildings with colorful facades and peeling from the passage of time and clothes hanging on the balconies. But it also has an area with more atmosphere where merchants and artisans invite you to buy souvenirs as a souvenir of such a special trip to the Greek Islands.
