One of the Seven Wonders of the World is the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. It is longer than the Great Wall of China and is said to be the only living organism seen from space. If you thought that Australia only had deserts, koalas, crocodiles and sharks, discover this natural treasure that stretches for more than 3 kilometers almost parallel to the state of Queensland.

This beautiful coral reef receives visitors all year round so if you plan to go to Australia you should come to know it. In many of its islands there are hotels And the truth is that staying there is one of those experiences that one must give oneself from time to time: something of luxury, intimacy and exoticism. This coral reef today forms a marine park which, as I said, runs almost in parallel along the entire Queensland coast. It is located at a distance from the coast of between 15 and 150 kilometers and in some sectors it reaches 65 kilometers wide. In some of its islands there are resorts but many others are uninhabited and in its deep sea there are treasures of flora and fauna that divers discover every day.

400 species of coral, mollusks, rays, dolphins, more of 200 kinds of seabirds, about 20 types of reptiles, 1500 species of tropical fish, huge sea ​​turtles y Whales that arrive to feed on their migration from Antarctica, for example. For all this is that it is World Heritage since 1981 and for the same reason it has become one of the tourist meccas in Australia. Some 820 tourism agencies have operated in the area for some time now, the presence of which involves sailboats, tourist submarines, glass-bottom boats and planes everywhere, taking and bringing people.

On the great barrier there are about a hundred islands, including the beautiful Whitsundays Islands, but we can also talk about some 18 popular islands and it is in some of them that the resorts that we will see below are found.

It can only be reached by boat-charter from Cairns airport, which in turn can be reached from anywhere in the country and from Asia in general.

  • Anchor Bay Suites: They have a private path leading to the beach and easy access to the main resort building. They cost from $1546 (AUD 2399).
  • The Pavilion: It is on a high point of the resort and offers a 270º panorama of Anchor Bay, Osprey Island and Sunset Beach. So much luxury costs yours: from $2450 (AUD 3799).
  • The villa has a rate from $3351 (5200 AUD) and you can imagine the ultimate luxury. That's how it is.

To these categories of rooms adds a restaurant, bar with own cellar, another restaurant on the beach and the fact that the resort can organize private picnics for its guests on one of the 24 white beaches on the island.

This resort It is only 45 minutes from Cairns. It is on a coral key decorated with a tropical jungle and offers packages for couples and families. You have three room categories: Island Suite King, Island Suite Twin and the Reef Suite. Hardwood floors, huge beds, modern amenities, air conditioning and ceiling fans, spaciousness, dreamy pools and beaches.

The advantage of this hotel is that the check-in point is at the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal so you do it before arriving on the island. From here the transfers at 8:30 and 10:30 am and at 1 pm. Of course, they include luggage. On the island, the hotel staff awaits you, giving you a short tour and then taking you to your room. The luggage arrives after a while. There are restaurants, you can order a picnic or enjoy room service.

Green island

Offers many day and night activities: you can feed fish, sunbathe, enjoy the beach, walk around the island, gaze at the stars with a telescope in the sand, dive, snorkel or windsurf. It has rates between 322 and 257 euros per day. Packages cost between 445 and 399 and include breakfast and a snorkeling excursion, transfer, sunset drinks, glass boat tour, forest walk, non-motorized activities on the beach and more.

It is a coral key that is 89 kilometers off the coast of Queensland and it is very popular. You don't have to go far to experience the wonder of the reef because it is located in your own heart. The island it has many beaches so you can go out and explore and get away from the rest of the guests. Offers various room categories, nine in total, all located in the natural curve that makes the key and all with balconies or terraces to appreciate the landscape.

All rates include daily breakfast in the hotel restaurant where lunch and dinner are also served (dinner is five days à la carte and two days buffet). Also in this hotel we can order a picnic basket. We finally have a super luxury resort which is in one of the Whitsunday Islands, on Hayman Island, the closest in the archipelago to the outer reef. It can be reached by helicopter, plane, sailboat and water plane. The nearby Hamilton Island airport receives flights from all Australian cities, Europe, America, Africa and Asia and from there you can choose any of the aforementioned means of transport for an approximate cost of 65 euros.

A few days at this luxury hotel will allow you to explore the Great Barrier Reef in style, diving, swimming, snorkeling, taking a helicopter ride, seeing dolphins, taking long walks or relaxing in a spa.
