Now that the heat seems to be waning, it is an ideal time to visit the Andalusian capital and enjoy some of the wonders it offers to the visitor. Among these, one to highlight is the well-known Plaza de España, which we will present to you below, so that, when you go, you will know some of its most important data.

Located in the María Luisa Park, Plaza de España is considered one of the most spectacular spaces of regionalist architecture in the area. Its construction took place between 1914 and 1929 on the occasion of the Ibero-American Exposition of Seville in 1929 and all the provinces of Spain are represented on its banks.

The person in charge of projecting the project was Hannibal Gonzalez, who was helped by a large group of engineers and collaborators and the person in charge of overseeing the proper functioning of the work was King Alfonso XIII who, in addition, was the one who laid the first stone of the work of this construction.

La structure of the square has a semi-elliptical shape, which comes to represent the embrace of Spain with its former colonies. Its surface area is about 50.000 square meters and the square is also bordered by a 515-meter channel that is crossed by four bridges.

The construction was carried out with exposed brick and decorated with ceramics, coffered ceilings, wrought and embossed iron and carved marble. In addition, the square also has two baroque style towers of about 74 meters and a central fountain, the work of Vicente Traver, which has been much questioned, for breaking the aesthetics of the place.
