On top of Ming Hill, at the northern end of the Yangtze River in China, Is Fengdu, the "ghost town". It is a mysterious place that attracts tourists from all over the world, but especially citizens from other regions of the country. And it is that this place is the perfect place to learn everything about the Chinese culture of ghosts and the Hereafter.
The city was founded two thousand years ago, during the time of the Han dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), when two officials of the emperor, Yin and WangThey decided to flee the court and live their lives in this secluded corner. No one knows how but these men found the secret of immortality, so it is very likely that they are still around, confused among the people, while we visit Fengdu.
Most of the most famous places in this city of ghosts have names that refer to the afterlife: the Last Look Home, the Bridge of Nothing to Do, the Passage of the Tortured Ghost ... Everywhere we find chilling statues and other artistic representations of ghosts and demons. -
But undoubtedly the most spectacular element that we find in Fengdu is the face of the giant that can be seen among the vegetation of the mountain- It is "The ghost of the king" and figure in the Guinness Book of Records like the largest sculpture carved out of a rock. At 138 meters high and 217 meters wide, it is visible from almost anywhere in the city.
