Interesting excursions around Copenhagen

If you visit Copenhagen You will find plenty of things to see and do. This vibrant destination is full of attractions, but it doesn't hurt to reserve a day or two for your stay there. take an excursion outside the city, something very easy to do thanks to its rapid metropolitan transport network. Here are our recommendations:

we start by helsingør (Elsinore), to the north, the departure point for ferries leaving for neighboring Sweden and the place where the legendary rises Kronborg Castle. Despite its always busy port, it is a calm and friendly city. Its medieval quarter has been preserved almost intact. there lies Holdde, the main shopping street. A few years ago the statue of Han, the male equivalent of the famous Copenhagen Little Mermaid.

If we leave the capital of the country heading west using public transport, we will arrive in half an hour to Roskilde, the main town on the route to the Funen region. The city is famous for its extravagant cathedral and for having once been the capital of Denmark. There one of the most colorful markets in the country takes place, on Wednesdays and Saturdays in the square in front of the cathedral.

About a 15-minute walk from the center, on the shores of the fjord, is the modern Viking Ship Museum. Inside are five magnificent thousand-year-old ships rescued from the bottom of the port, in the same place where they were sunk to, supposedly, block the invading forces in the year 1042.

We still have to recommend the coastal route along the North Zealand coast, which is dotted with picturesque fishing villages such as gilleleje (photo), where you can buy fresh fish directly from the boats that dock in the port. An authentic experience.
