Las Vegas, "the city of sin" (III)

USA

We arrive at an important part of our journey in every trip, the local food. The whole country is not really characterized by having a meal as extensive as other countries may have and it is far from that cliché that in the United States only hamburgers, pizzas, hot dogs and cola drinks are eaten. These foods can be eaten anywhere in the world and are just as greasy and cause as much cholesterol, or more, than those here.

We are going to know some of the typical foods, not only from Nevada but from all over the United States where we could say that the menu is homogeneous although, obviously, each state has its delicacies.

Oven roasted meat, fried chicken, barbecues, stuffed turkey, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, prawns and the well-known apple or pumpkin cakes are some of the most recognized dishes in the country and therefore also of Nevada.

The cuisine of this area of the country has been influenced by the Native American Indians, by the first Spanish settlers and also by their Mexican neighbors. It includes an important variety of dishes made with local ingredients and with various spices from the neighboring country.

A clear example is Tex-Mex food, a mixture of food from the neighboring state of Texas (in English Texas) and Mexican where barbecued meat and hot chili are the main ingredients. This food has become so famous that not only in the United States but throughout the world you can enjoy this type of cuisine.

Tex-mex food

It may not be a food as varied and succulent as Spanish, French, Argentine or from another country, but it is an authentic experience to try their specialties and enjoy this type of food with an authentic American flavor.
