Lotus Building, a lotus-shaped building in Wujin

Floating in the middle of an artificial lake in the center of Wujin, China, the call Lotus building flourishes thanks to the design of the prestigious Australian architecture firm STUDIO 505. The beautiful building takes its name and shape from the lotus flower. Here the municipal urban planning offices will be located.

Actually the Lotus Building is an addition to an existing two-story municipal facility that is located at the bottom of the lake, that is, under the waters of the lake in underground galleries. The spectacular new wing and its flowery structure will also house several exhibition halls, conference centers and meeting rooms. Visitors will access it via a vaulted bridge where a combination of color and light create a luminous interior atmosphere.

The façade is made up of a series of external "petals" that light up at night. The building was also designed with the aim of minimizing energy consumption: more than 2.500 geothermal batteries are located in the lake bed while a large thermal chimney is located inside the main "sheath" of the flower.

This amazing and beautiful building was completed in 2013. Today it stands in the center of the Wujin City People's Park And it has become, in all fairness, one of the most prominent tourist attractions in this destination located relatively close to the powerful and highly visited Shanghai.
