Nafplio (Greece): one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the Peloponnese

A trip to Greece deserves a tour of the Peloponnesus. On this peninsula it is worth making a stop in one of the most charming cities in all of Greece, Nauplia. Located just over 100 km. west of Athens, Nafplio is the capital of the prefecture of the Argolis and it is in the Argolikos Bay, forming part of the Peloponnese Peninsula. From Athens it is very easy to get to Nafplio, both by bus and by train, making a short stopover in the city of Maroon.

This small Greek town dazzles the visitor with its beauty and historical heritage, reflected in its old buildings such as its old fortresses or its Venetian palaces, its cobbled streets dotted with lemon trees and its lively promenade that offers magnificent views of the entire bay.

Imposing, the Palamedes fortress and Acronauplius rock dominate the surroundings of the city, and towards the middle of the bay rises the picturesque islet of Burtsi with its mysterious castle. Touring the Peloponnese peninsula, Nafplio is presented as the perfect point for excursions to the important archaeological sites that are in the surroundings of the city such as Mycenae, Tirinto, Argos, Epidaurus y Acrocorinth.
