Praia da Ursa, in Portugal

beach-da-ursa

One of the most popular summer destinations in Portugal, summer destination per se, is Sintra. In the district of Lisbon is this charming Portuguese town with a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean that since the mid-90s is Heritage.

It is precisely the Atlantic coast that is in some places decorated with rugged cliffs. Between these cliffs, hidden, is one of the best beaches in Portugal: the Ursa Beach. We found it near Cabo da Roca and because it is hidden and it is not easy to reach it, it has become popular as one of the nude beaches in Portugal. Do you dare to walk in the sun and bathe without a bathing suit?

To achieve the Ursa Beach you have to dare to go down a fairly steep path that runs along one side of the cliff. Right to the beach and to the water, but it is slippery so you have to wear shoes that have some grip, otherwise you will go down like a slide. It is not an organized beach, due to its location, so you must carry a backpack with food and drinks. And something to cover you from the sun.

Is it possible to get to this beach in Sintra? Yes, by boat. It is the option that many choose. It is worth visiting as it is a beautiful beach with soft and warm sands, beautifully natural. It even has a small waterfall. As I said above, its location has made it a destination for nudism in Portugal, but it is not an officially nudist beach so you can go with a bathing suit or you can even go and nobody is naked.

Some rocks, a lot of golden sand, no restaurants or kiosks, no deck chairs or umbrellas, no lifeguards. So is the beautiful Ursa Beach, located about 41 kilometers from Lisbon.
