The best beaches in Japan

Zanami beach

It is true that Japan is not the first place we think of when we think of beaches. But Japan is an island country so it has beaches, many beaches. Qualifying them as better or worse depends on what type of beach you like, whether it should be tropical or not. As I believe that the beaches are to be enjoyed without much clothing and with a lot of sun, this is my list of the best japan tropical beaches:

  • beaches of the Ogasawara Islands: These islands are numerous and are located some distance from the rest of the country, in Okinawa, so it takes a day to reach them by boat from Tokyo Bay. They are considered something like the "Galapagos of the East" and it is a land of many exceptional flora and fauna. Of course, there are no luxuries but there are endless white sand beaches and calm seas. You cannot imagine that you are in Japan.
  • Paya Sotoura: It is on the Izu peninsula, in Shizuoka, and you arrive in a few hours from Tokyo. It is very tropical, has crystal clear waters, hotels and a nearby mountain from which you have wonderful views of the landscape.
  • Kabira Bay: It is a bay located on the Okinawan island of Oshigakijima. Calm waters, ideal for swimming and diving.
  • zanami: Also in the Okinawa region it is a special place to see corals as there is very good visibility. It's also great for kayaking.
  • Kume Island: It is another destination in Okinawa with turquoise waters, green hills, high temperatures and very friendly local people.

As you have seen almost all the beaches in Japan I have located them in Okinawa and it is because this part of the country is the most tropical of all. My favorite when it comes to enjoying the summer.
