The best places to watch the sunset

Sunset is one of the most fascinating moments of the day. The image of the sun setting on the horizon is one of the most sought after images on a trip when the sky brings out its wide range of warm colors and, therefore, one of the memories that one brings back with oneself. Whether on the beach, in the mountains, in the desert or in the city, any place is good to enjoy a movie sunset. But what are the best places to watch the sunset?

Madagascar

The road that connects the towns of Morondava and Belo and Morondava has one of the most beautiful sunsets on the planet. The reason? The line of baobabs that covers both sides of the road and that together with the orange sky offers one of the most fascinating landscapes in Africa.

The baobab is an endemic species of the country that we can only see in this part of the world. These are trees with more than a thousand years old that have a crown of thick, short and not very abundant branches and a trunk shaped like a bottle to store water. They can reach more than twenty meters in height and since 2007 this area near Morondava has been protected.

Tanzania

Without leaving Africa, we came across another of the best places to watch the sunset on the continent: Kilimanjaro National Park. Located in northern Tanzania next to the Kenyan border, Mount Kilimanjaro was an ancient volcano that is currently the highest point on the continent with an altitude of 5.895 meters. With its summit covered in snow, it rises in the middle of a plain of the savannah offering a unique spectacle also at sunset.

Climbing to the top of Kilimanjaro is one of the best things to do in Tanzania if you are passionate about mountaineering and are in good physical condition. Imagine contemplating nature when the sun gradually fades to make way for twilight. Simply magical!

We head to the Middle East to witness another of the best sunset spots in the world in the Wadi Rum desert, one of the most beautiful that looks even more special when the sun goes down and its dim light completely transforms the landscape.

It was declared a World Heritage Site in 2011 and its unique orography made it take the name of Valle de la Luna. The evening light shows us another face of Wadi Rum with its various colors, shapes and reliefs. It is not surprising that popular films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Mars or the Red Planet have been shot in this desert. Seeing it on the big screen is interesting but doing it in person is a unique experience not to be forgotten.

Egypt

Speaking of cinema, we cannot forget Egypt as a movie set to contemplate a beautiful sunset. Its pyramids, the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world still standing, do not need incentives to marvel at this magnificent work of human beings.

The ancient Egyptians were great sky watchers. The location of the pyramids makes the country one of the best places to watch the sunset. The combination of these ancient constructions in the desert with the sunset results in an instant full of mystery that cannot be found in another corner of the planet.

Spain

In Aragon, on the border of the provinces of Zaragoza and Teruel, to be more exact, is the Gallocanta lagoon, the largest in the community and one of the largest in Spain. Every year, towards the month of November, thousands of cranes fly over the skies of Gallocanta in a unique spectacle, in which up to 30.000 birds from northern Europe come together here on their migration route in search of warmer temperatures in the south of the continent.

The silhouette of that cloud of birds on the shimmering sky that the last light of the day produces on the surface of the water is a spectacle of nature without equal. A true wonder for lovers of ornithology. Impossible to forget the sunset of the Gallocanta lagoon and the noise that these birds make when they make their stop here.

Aruba

When we dream of the Caribbean, a paradisiacal image of fine sand beaches, lush palm trees and crystal clear waters comes to mind. In Aruba, an autonomous Dutch country, that description fits perfectly and to it must be added some scandalous sunsets.

Contemplating the twilight from its beaches is one of the best souvenirs that you can take with you from your stay on the island. In addition, it is also an opportunity to feel the beauty of nature at its best and disconnect the mind, whether lying on the sand or practicing some water sport in the sea. By the way! The seabed of Aruba and its colorful coral reef is another of the activities that you have to do during your vacation.
