The Church of Santa Anna de Beaupré, attraction in Quebec

Saint Anne of Beaupre

Canada It is not one of the most touristic countries in the world but it is really a very attractive country and if you go on a trip to New York, my advice is to even go to the Canadian cities that are closer to the border. Worth it. Between the Canada tourist attractions there are landscapes more than anything but today we will talk about a church.

The church in question is called Sanctuary of Santa Ana de Beaupré and is located in the village of the same name near Quebec. It is a Catholic church and attracts many pilgrims a year. The first chapel was built on this site during the second half of the XNUMXth century around a miraculous statue of Santa Ana, the mother of the Virgin Mary. For both settlers and native converts, this sanctuary became a pilgrimage mecca around which miraculous cures began to take place. A short time later another church was built and before the end of the century a third version.

In 1876 Santa Ana became the Patroness of Quebec and that same year a larger basilica opened its doors to show the relics of Saint Anne sent by the same Pope from the Vatican. Unfortunately that church burned down in 1922 and was replaced by the Church of Santa Ana de Beaupré that we see today and that dates from 1926. It is a beautiful church with beautiful stained glass windows, mosaics with religious scenes and an imposing grated statue in a solid piece of oak adorned with diamonds, pearls and rubies.

A museum dedicated to Santa Ana also works here and the massive pilgrimage takes place every July 26, the Day of Santa Ana.
