The dragon that hugs the temple of Wat Samphran, in Thailand

With everything there is to see in the fascinating city of Bangkok It is normal that many points of interest go unnoticed by many tourists, especially those that rarely appear in the guides of the capital of Thailand, such as the curious Wat Samphran Temple.

Even so, there are very astute travelers who know how to find it and thus be able to marvel at this unique work of architecture: an incredible 17-story tower in which it coils a gigantic dragon with enormous claws and terrible jaws.

Unfortunately the state of conservation of this temple leaves much to be desired. Even so, inside we find some remarkable treasures such as a giant bronze Buddha statue. Much of the temple premises are closed to the public.

The dragon that hugs the facade is hollow and therefore does not imply an extra weight for the building. Visitors who wish can walk on its scaled back in some sections. If you dare to walk on the dragon, you know: the Temple of Wat Samphran is located in the town of Khlong Mai, a few kilometers west of Bangkok, where it can be reached by public transport.
