Volcanic Tourism in Alaska

Cleveland Volcano

Cleveland Volcano

Today we will practice volcanic tourism in Alaska. Let's start the tour in the Cleveland Volcano, a stratovolcano located west of Chuginadak Island, of the Four Volcanoes group of islands in the Aleutian Islands archipelago. This almost symmetrical volcano has a height of 1,730 meters.

La Fourpeaked Mountain, also known as Fourpeaked Volcano, is an active stratovolcano almost covered by a glacier. It is a dormant volcano on the verge of extinction.

We must also point out the case of Mount redoubt, an active stratovolcano considered the highest peak in the Aleutian mountain range. The volcano is located in the Chigmit Mountains, west of Cook Inlet, and about 180 kilometers southwest of the city of Anchorage.

Finally let's finish the tour in the Novarupta, a new volcano formed in 1912. To visit it we must go to the Katmai National Park and Reserve, about 470 kilometers southwest of Anchorage.
