Central America volcanoes

Central America is located in an area considered to be of wide volcanic activity, which is known as the Central American Volcanic Arc, located in turn within the Pacific Ring of Fire. Throughout more than 1.500 kilometers in length of the aforementioned Volcanic Arc it is possible to find all kinds of volcanoes that vary in size or if they are in activity. Let's know a few of these below.

Let's start by seeing the Tajumulco volcano, considered the largest in all of Central America thanks to being about 4.220 meters high, being located within Guatemala, specifically within the department of San Marcos in the western zone of the nation. It is important to point out that the Tajumulco is dead or extinct, since 1956 it has been considered a protected area. There are tourism activities aimed at climbing it.

It is also worth noting the Saint Vincent volcano located in El Salvador, specifically in the municipalities of Guadalupe and Tepetitán in the department of San Vicente. The volcano has a maximum height of 2.173 meters, making it the second highest in the nation. It is also known under the name of Chichontepec, having in itself two mountains and an outstanding natural region in its surroundings, which includes thermal springs.

En Nicaragua, specifically in the department of León we find the volcano

In Panama we find the Volcan Baru, considered the highest elevation in the country and one of the highest in Central America as it has a height of 3,475 meters.
