This city was always well protected and proof of this are the current fortifications. But before this, walls had already been built around certain areas of what is now the historic area. The current appearance of the walls was defined in the XNUMXth century, when the city achieved independence from the Republic of Venice and its construction continued until the following century. Due to the quality of the construction and the care of the walls through the centuries, today they are still in very good condition. It has four historic gates, two leading to the port and two to the new city. If we visit the walls we can also see and access the port area, which is one of the oldest in the city. Also, you can walk along the ramparts to see the city from an incredible perspective.

Of course, we must bear in mind that this is one of the most expensive streets in the entire country.

Walking down Calle Stradun we come to a wider area, which is the Plaza de la Luza. This square is one of the busiest places in the entire city. In addition, we are facing a space in which some of the most important monuments of the old city are located. We can see the Bell Tower, which also has a curious statue of two children ringing the bell inside. Sponza Palace was a very important building, as it had the customs center and was the economic center of the city. Also, we can see the church of San Blas in the same square.
