La Ljubljana city is the capital of Slovenia and its largest city. It was born as a Roman military camp in the XNUMXst century BC. C. It is not one of the largest cities in Europe, so it still retains a certain charm and smaller and quieter places.

This city was declared Green City in 2016, so it is a capital that cares for the environment. It has many green spaces that are enjoyed after the monuments. So it is ideal to visit in spring, when we can be outdoors.

El Ljubljana Castle is one of the points of greatest interest in the Slovenian city. It is located in a high area, dominating the city, as it happens with many other castles. Inside you can visit many of its spaces, such as the tower of the shooters, the Erasmus Tower, the Palace or various rooms. It is possible to visit a large part of its areas freely, although it currently houses a space for weddings and events.

If you want to see a bridge that is totally original and picturesque, you must go to the Bridge of Dragons. This beautiful bridge is flanked by four dragons in beautiful green tones that attract a lot of tourists' attention. The dragon is the symbol of Ljubljana and represents strength. Its legend began with Jason and the Argonauts, who upon reaching the city had to defeat a great dragon, which became a symbol of the city.

This place was occupied in the beginning by a Romanesque church. A fire caused it to be rebuilt in the Gothic style. Already in the XNUMXth century a building in the baroque style. Although the exterior areas do not attract much attention, the truth is that inside it is possible to see beautiful Baroque frescoes. Also noteworthy are its side doors, in which the history of Slovenia is narrated. These doors have been carved in bronze.

Preseren Square

Every city has a central square that is one of its most lively places and in the case of Ljubljana is Preseren Square. If we want to do a city tour, this is where the vast majority start, so it can be the perfect place to start the day and visit the city from a guided tour. It is located by the river and right next to the Triple Bridge, which is also one of its points of interest. In this square is the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, with a beautiful Baroque façade. In the square there are also some bars where you can have a snack.

The Central Market of the city has a style that is inspired by the Renaissance. It was designed around 1940 and today it is still one of the liveliest places in the city. The market is an elongated warehouse located next to the river between the Bridge of the Dragons and the Triple Bridge, so it is close to the other visits that are essential. Next to the market there are also a few stalls that allow us to see an even greater offer of local products. It is the perfect place to enjoy a culinary visit and get to know the typical foods and atmosphere of the city.

Tivoli Park

In a good city, there is no lack of a central square and a large park to enjoy a wonderful walk. This is the Tivoli Park, where you can take quiet walks or do some sport. In this park it is also possible to see a greenhouse and there is an outdoor library, a swimming pool and sometimes some events are held. It is the entertainment venue par excellence.

If we are in the park, we can also see the three museums of the city. The Museum of Modern Art shows us works by Slovenian artists of the XNUMXth century. The National Museum has objects from the history of the country, so in it we can learn more about Slovenian history.
