To visit the center of Marbella is to get closer to the roots of the small fishing village that once was. Getting lost in its narrow and whitewashed streets is a pleasure. Especially sitting on a terrace enjoying a delicious tinto de verano and some tapas, contemplating the balconies decorated with colorful flowers and watching people go by.

A walk through the center also allows us to know the local craft shops that are interspersed with large brand stores. Without forgetting a visit to the Engraving Museum where we can find works by well-known artists such as Antonio Tàpies, Picasso, Joan Miró or Antonio Saura. Located in the old Bazán Hospital from the XNUMXth century, it is the only one in Spain dedicated to the preservation of XNUMXth and XNUMXst century engravings and works of Spanish graphic art.

On the other hand, In the historic center of Marbella is the old Moorish castle that Sultan Abderramán III ordered to be built in the XNUMXth century. It is located near the Plaza de Los Naranjos and the Iglesia de la Encarnación, the most important temple in the municipality. In 1485 after the reconquest of Marbella, reforms were made taking advantage of materials used in previous Roman constructions. It was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1949.

In the church square is the Iglesia Mayor de la Encarnación, built in the XNUMXth century.
