Switzerland is a country located in central Europe which constitutes a federal republic made up of states called cantons. Bern is its capital, but there is much more to see in this country. Lucerne
Lucerne is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland. Located next to a lake in central Switzerland, it is usually a mandatory stop for tourists. Lucerne's medieval wooden bridge is one of its most iconic landmarks. On the roof of the bridge there are paintings that tell the story of Lucerne and Zurich. As we cross the bridge we see some of the towers of the old medieval wall and we arrive at the Capilla Square with the Carnival Fountain. In Lucerne you have to walk through its historic center and see places such as the Jesuit church or the Lion Monument.
Bern
Bern is the capital of Switzerland, although it does not become its most touristic place. In this city you should not miss the beautiful Rose Garden, a large green space where we find more than 200 types of roses. Once in the historic center, you have to walk along Kramgasse street, which has several kilometers of arcades, fountains in the center and craft shops. At the beginning of this street we can enjoy the clock tower, a very beautiful medieval tower in which you can enter to see the mechanism.
Interlaken
As its name suggests, Interlaken is a city between lakes. In this place there are many activities to do, such as enjoying a cruise on Lakes Thun and Brienz. If you go in summer or spring you can bathe in a lido, an outdoor bathing area. Another of the best known activities is the rack railway that takes you to the Jungfraujoch. During the winter the landscape changes completely and this place becomes an area to do all kinds of sports such as glacier walks or sleigh rides.
Rhine falls
These waterfalls are the largest water height in Europe, so it is another classic that we can see in Switzerland. A waterfall that emerged thousands of years ago in the ice age. Tickets are purchased at Laufen Castle, which today operates as a restaurant and hostel. Along the Belvedere Trail that goes down to the falls there are several viewpoints to see them from different points. The best thing to do is enjoy the cruise around these falls to see them up close.
Gruyeres
In this beautiful town we can see the Castle of Gruyéres, built between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. It is in a high place with beautiful views before the entrance of the town. In this small town the famous Gruyere cheese is made, which is known throughout the world, so you have to go to Maison Gruyere to try it. Nor should you miss its central square with old buildings or the curious Museum of Tibet.
Chillon Castle
This castle is one of the most imcarriers in Switzerland and it is surrounded by Lake Leman. A visit to this castle is almost a must. From afar we can see how beautiful it is, especially framed in the surrounding landscape. Geneva
Geneva is a city that overlooks the Alps and one of the best known cities in Switzerland. In this city there are several visits of interest, such as the original Cathedral of San Pedro with a neoclassical portico. Climbing the stairs that lead to the top of the towers you can enjoy great views. At the Eaux Vives jetty we can see the famous Jet d'Eau, an impressive jet of water that can reach 140 meters in height. A bit far from the historic center is the Carouge neighborhood, which was an independent city centuries ago. It is one of the most charming neighborhoods in the city.
