Cave of the Greens in Lanzarote
If you liked Jules Verne's 'Journey to the Center of the Earth', you may love the experience of the Cueva de los Verdes in Lanzarote, a tube that goes deep into the bowels of the earth in the north of the island of Lanzarote. This incredible grotto was formed in the eruption of the La Corona Volcano, more than five thousand years ago. The tunnel has a great length, and goes from the volcano to the sea, entering it in an underwater tunnel known as the Tunnel of Atlantis, since before the sea level was below. This is the longest volcanic tunnel in the world, with about seven kilometers. In the area closest to the coast is where you can find the Jameos del Agua, openings that allow access to the caves. They have been illuminated to allow visits, and there is even an auditorium within them, making it a truly special and cultural experience.
Natural spaces always have something magical about them, so the second largest beech and fir forest from all over Europe, after the impressive Black Forest of Germany, it could not be less. La Selva de Irati is a very special place, perfect to visit at any time of the year, as it presents a different picture each time. It is located in the eastern Pyrenees, and it is possible to enter it from Orbaizeta or from Ochagavía, some beautiful villages with a lot of charm.
In this jungle it is possible to do many interesting activities for the whole family. For example, there are 16 marked trails for hiking at different levels, less than ten kilometers, making it a perfect place for lovers of this sport, who want to discover the jungle corner by corner. Sierra de Cazorla Natural Park
This park is part of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, a natural space located in Jaén. It has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and a Special Protection Area for Birds. But beyond its high ecological value, there are many corners that make it worth visiting with peace of mind. In this natural park there are innumerable trails to follow the most interesting routes, with waterfalls, peaks, tracks of different difficulties and even castles, such as the Castle of Segura de la Sierra, located at the top of a hill to dominate the entire space. There are also special routes by bicycle, or you can even go by car along certain tracks, and you can reach some mountain villages, where life seems to be carried on in a much more serene and calm way.
There are those who find a special charm in deserted zones, by that nature in complete silence, the tranquility and how small we come to feel compared to huge places without vegetation and endless plains. The Bardenas Reales located in Navarra, near Tudela, are a semi-desert landscape in which to find this tranquility and the greatness of deserts. Spectacular landscapes that seem taken from Arizona or the Wild West, but not from Spain. These spaces are a protected natural park, so our visit will be much more restricted than years ago, to protect the natural spaces from the exploitation of tourism itself.
The bardenas can be visited from eight in the morning until an hour before the sun goes down. There is a visitor center where we can collect all the information or hire guides to discover the most interesting routes, since they can even be done by segway, an original mode of transport. In addition, you can visit these routes by car, from which you cannot leave, either on foot or by bicycle. One of its most mythical rock formations is the Head of Castildetierra, which almost represents the image of the Bardenas Reales. Without a doubt it is a magical and really special landscape.
