Cambridge, one of the most beautiful cities in the UK

If you have a week or more to travel to London, I would recommend that, in addition to visiting Oxford, a city that I already told you about in another post, you will also include in your plans the city of Cambridge, another old English university city, located just 80 kilometers north of London. You may arrive by train from London station Kings Cross in an hour.Cambridge owes its fame, above all, to its University, one of the best in the world and the second most
old, after Oxford. According to legend, the University of Cambridge, in England, it was founded in 1209 by academics who fled from Oxford, after a brawl with agents from that city. King Henry III of England granted them a monopoly on education there, in 1231.

It is very pleasant to walk around Cambridge and enjoy its university atmosphere, but also, to move around the city, it has a complete network of public buses, which from its terminal, in the city center, have stops in all places central and also on the outskirts. Buses run quite frequently and tickets are very cheap.

If you decide to stay a few days, here you will find hotels, which you can choose by popularity, category, price and previous guest reviews. What can you do in Cambridge, one of the most beautiful cities in the UK? Possibilities are many:

  • Don't miss Cambridge's best-known landmark, the famous King's College Chapel, a University chapel, which is part of one of the most beautiful sights in Cambridge. (First photo).
  • The best way not to miss anything interesting is to take a guided tour of the city, which allows you to see and visit: museums and galleries, the Grain Market, the Arts Theater ... (Here you will find a map and more information)
  • If you like books, remember that Cambridge is famous for its bookstores.
  • And to go shopping, you better go to the market, from there the streets start where you will find the best shops, open from Monday to Saturday. In addition, the city has two shopping centers, with a wide variety of stores and most of them are open every day of the week.
  • To eat well, in Cambridge you have excellent restaurants serving international food at great prices. The meats are delicious, they are roasted very well, with tasty steamed vegetables and delicious sauces.
  • And if you want to go for a drink, go straight to "The Corn Exchange" and "Sidney Street", there you will find the most popular bars, from quiet places, "lounge bar" to pubs full of people.

Culture, food and fun, Cambridge is a perfect trip.

Don't forget the camera and have fun!
