Rabbit Bay
Lampedusa Island It is located in the Mediterranean Sea, being the northernmost end of Europe, since it is only 167 km away. off the coast of Tunis. In the southwestern part of the coast of this island Italian company is the Rabbit Bay, which is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean, Spiaggia dei Conigli. The wide bay faces the islet of the Rabbits (dei Conigli), a small rocky island of 4,4 hectares and a height of 26 meters, with fauna and flora identical to those found on the North African coast .
This islet is joined to the bay by an ephemeral sandy isthmus of 30 meters, which allows access on foot when the tide is low. This area is part of the Lampedusa Island Nature Reserve, established since 1995 in the Sicilian region and administered by Legambiente Sicilia. The sea that bathes this beach is of incomparable beauty, the water surprises with its turquoise tones and its transparency and shallow depth, making it ideal for family enjoyment. The area is also an ecological sanctuary since it is the point chosen by the caretta turtle to spawn its young.
To get to this idyllic beach it is necessary to go to the town of Capo Speaker, and from there only 6 kilometers remain to find this Mediterranean paradise. Upon reaching the place the traveler will be able to contemplate a spectacular view of the entire bay.
