Stop climate change

How many times have we heard about climate change? Surely tens, hundreds or thousands of times, but ... Are we doing something to avoid it? I personally think not. There are still many companies that are far from respecting not only international laws or agreements, but something more important, the health of the planet.

If it were only companies ... I am totally convinced that everything that is happening would not be happening, at least to such a magnitude. People we are not 100% aware of what climate change means. Only a few rise up as prophetic voices trying to warn the entire population of the terrible consequences, but their warnings are lost like a drop of water in the desert.

I trust that we are not so foolish not to open our eyes and recognize what is happening, because turning our heads and looking the other way we become accomplices and it is time to say enough. Enough to this situation where many microclimates of the world are disappearing, enough to the large number of animals that are in danger, enough to the exacerbated consumerism of raw materials for the benefit of a few, now is the time to put a stop to this situation, because inside of a time this damage will be irreversible, and it will get worse.

As I read the other day in the press, a study carried out by the National Center for Atmospheric Research where it revealed really chilling data. Some of the most important rivers in the world such as the Yang tse kiang (Yellow River), the Niger or the sacred river Ganges they are running dry from global warming and the situation will get worse if it is not stopped.

If these predictions come true in a few years, where today there are rivers, there will be absolutely nothing but wasteland and not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of people will suffer these consequences. Unfortunately, it is the case that Africa will be one of the worst hit places, because in a few years there will be more time between the rainy season, which will cause tremendous droughts and consequently diseases and death.

I have chosen the subject of drought and rivers at random, because I could also speak of the thaw in different areas of the world, such as in the Perito Moreno Glacier or at the poles, where Antarctica is lately suffering a barrage of tourists, people who do not it respects one of the last virgin areas on earth and where the hand of man has not made a great dent.

It could also talk about the large number of islands and coastal cities that will be submerged according to estimates around 2050, when the sea will rise seven meters. Nobody realizes this?

As for companies, the one who will notice it most in a short period of time is the tourism sector, although little by little many entrepreneurs are becoming aware and are carrying out plans to save energy, for example. This is included in a plan called "Energy Solutions for Hotels" that is included in an action carried out by the World Tourism Organization and consists of the application of elements to improve energy efficiency and not spend more than what is owed. .

Another of the few companies that I have seen that have become aware and that are carrying out different actions is Union Fenosa, which has designed efficiency, a most original project. It is a contest that will teach us all to use energy wisely and that will allow us to reduce CO² emissions.

And it is not just a mere entertainment, but for each person who registers they will donate € 1 to the NGO Actuation to carry out a reforestation project in Brazil, something really useful, given that this country is one of the lungs of the planet, something that it urgently needs.

This could be one of the many cases that we are timidly beginning to see little by little in different cities of the world, but it is still not enough, we must all contribute what we can, because our children do not deserve something like that, we must leave a legacy for our next generations.

We still have time to help, although it seems little to us, any gesture is valid, collaborating with recycling, controlling our energy consumption, not spending more water than necessary and together with these small actions there are a million of them that we can carry out .

Let's not let our planet die, it is in our hands.

This post belongs to the 100 post action on climate change
