An activity for all ages where you can discover the bottom of the sea and enjoy its beauty. If you love to contemplate the secrets of the sea on your vacation, take a pencil and paper because below we will present the best beaches for snorkeling.

Gili Trawangan

The beaches of Gili Trawangan Island represent paradise. They are the ideal option to snorkel and see sea turtles, fish and the nest sculpture statue under the water. To get to an area where it covers the water and to be able to dive, you have to walk among corals and rocks, so it is advisable to wear fins, booties or flip-flops to protect your feet and not hurt yourself.

Avoid, especially, stepping on the coral when accessing the snorkeling area as it is a very fragile living being and the tourist impact can be very harmful. It is up to us that we can continue to enjoy them.

Medes Islands

The beaches of the Medes Islands are the perfect place in Catalonia to snorkel thanks to its excellent conditions and its rich seabed: algae, seagrass meadows, corals, crabs, starfish and various fish. The natural protection of the archipelago allows diving in almost any weather condition.

Phu Quoc

Although the beaches of Phu Quoc are not protected as in other areas of Asia, they are home to great marine life. It is a very quiet place to snorkel because it does not have large fish. The vast reef system of Phu Quoc features butterfly fish, miter shells, rays, bamboo sharks, slugs, catfish and scorpion fish. You can access shallow water to see cuttlefish and octopus among the large rocks and have a memorable experience.

Snorkeling usually takes place on the northwest side of the island or around the small archipelago to the south. The best time to go there is from November to May when the sea is calm, the days are clear and the waters around the island are clearer.

Okinawa

Japan is another interesting destination for snorkeling. The water temperature is around 20ºC and in its warm waters there is a diverse fauna where you can find barracudas, barnyard sharks and sea turtles.

Tropical fish can be spotted almost anywhere for diving from August to December. During the month of May, the stingrays and dolphins appear and are visible until November. You can even spot multitudes of colorful fish and moray eels, as well as humpback whales from January to March.

Typhoon season runs from August to October, peaking in September so avoid going during typhoon seasons.
