The Inverted Pyramid of the Louvre

Inverted Pyramid of the Louvre

My husband is about to travel to Paris, France, and since he does not like art, the truth is that he Louvre do not plan to visit. But looking at photos and videos has caught his attention inverted pyramid and he has asked me what it is, where it is, and what it keeps.

La Inverted Pyramid of the Louvre Museum It is, by now, an icon of Paris almost as valid as the Eiffel Tower. It is located opposite the Louvre Museum and was designed by an architectural firm within the framework of the museum's renovation, in 1993. It is situated and at the same time marks the intersection of two paths and allows one to orient oneself at the entrance to the museum. It is a steel structure measuring 13.3 square meters and weighing 30 tons. The glass of the panels is laminated with a thickness of 30mm, and the tip of the figure is suspended almost a meter and a half above the ground level.

Just below the tip of the inverted pyramid there is a small stone pyramid one meter high, as a minor reflection of the larger structure and almost touching it. At night the entire structure is illuminated, to the delight of tourists. And below it is an underground shopping center.
