When we are going to travel to a new place, it is essential to know the climate there so that we can wear the right clothes. In case you want to go to Nepal, you should know that it is unpredictable mainly due to its heterogeneous geography. In general, we could say that in the mountain areas we will have to wear warm clothes, while at lower altitudes, as in the Terai plane, we will be able to go with a somewhat lighter wardrobe.

The seasons of the year in Nepal
Cold period
This period runs from January to March, during which the temperatures are low. In subtropical areas, such as Kathmandu, the mercury in the thermometer can drop to 0ºC. In the mountains, however, you have to be very warm as the temperatures will be much lower (-5ºC at least). However, it's a good time to enjoy the snowexcept at the highest points.
Spring period
During the months of April to June, spring fills the landscapes and valleys with color and life. Deciduous trees have leaves again, the field is covered with beautiful flowers. If you like to enjoy nature, this is the best moment, since the temperatures remain mild, between 10 and 25ºC depending on the altitude of the place.
Rainy period
From the end of June to September the rains are very abundant, especially in the Kathmandu valley and in the city of Pokhara. From 3500 meters of altitude the rains are drastically reduced. Temperatures at this time of year are high, about 28ºC in the mountainous regions and up to 40ºC in the Terai, but it is necessary to wear long-sleeved waterproof clothing and long pants if we are going to spend a few days in the rivers, since we will have to protect ourselves from leeches.
Intermediate period
And finally, from October to December we have the intermediate period, which is characterized by cooler temperatures. It is the best time to do all kinds of excursions, since the rains disappear.
What is the best time to go to Nepal?
It is a question with a very difficult answer. Nepal is a wonderful place, from which you can learn and enjoy a lot at any time of the year. In general, it will depend on what we want to do there choose the date.
In any case, traveling there, regardless of the temperatures at the time, is an amazing experience, capable of changing your life (for the better) forever. Being surrounded by nature, by people who welcome you willingly, it's a dream that you can hardly forget.
What clothes am I wearing?
As we have seen, having four different seasons will depend largely on when we plan to travel to Nepal to choose one type of clothing or another. Of course, if you plan to go, for example, to Terai or surroundings in spring, it is worth taking warm clothes in case you finally dare to climb a mountain. Also, there is one very important thing you should know and that is that from 4 thousand meters of altitude, regardless of the season you are in, it is always coolTherefore, to avoid colds or worse health problems, it is advisable to take at least a windproof jacket and raincoats; without forgetting some good mountain shoes.
If you like to practice trekking, and especially if you are one of those who likes to take long walks that last 4 days, you will have to take one 35-50 liter backpack, with a waterproof cover if you go in the rainy season.
Other things you can't leave at home
Once we get ready to prepare the suitcase, there are a number of things that we cannot leave ourselves to make our visit to Nepal unforgettable.
If you are going to go in hot weather, it is highly advisable to take sunglasses, Butter y protector solar. A hat, cap or similar does not hurt either, although you can get these accessories once you arrive at your destination 🙂.

Of course, it is important to know what climate they have in the place where we want to go, but if you want to go in winter, go even if you are a little worried about the cold.
