Croatia, or the Republic of Croatia is a member country of the European Union which is really touristy. If we are going to see the things that can be seen in Croatia we will surely fall short talking about them. Zagreb is the capital of Croatia and as such it is one of its most touristic and important cities. In this city we can see its beautiful cathedral in the Kaptol neighborhood with two Gothic towers. You have to walk through its historic Gradec neighborhood, where we can see the Stone Gate that belonged to the old walls. The Dolac Market is outdoors and in it we can find the products of the area. The so-called Green Horseshoe is one of the most beautiful places in the city, parks, gardens and beautiful old buildings.
Pula
This is a small town located in the county of Istria. Apparently this city already existed in Ancient Greek times, so it has a lot of history. The first that we should see in Pula is the Roman amphitheater. It is the largest in the world and its construction began in 27 BC. Other ancient monuments that we can see in the city are the Gate of Hercules or the Arch of Sergios with Corinthian-style columns. On this visit we should also stop by the Archaeological Museum of Istria and the Museum of the History of Istria. Nor can we miss the Temple of Augustus, the only thing that remains of the ancient Roman forum.
Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is one of the most touristic places in all of Croatia, known as the pearl of the Adriatic. There are so many things to do in this city. Entering the walled city through the well-known Puerta de Pile is already a classic. Near this gate is Stradun, the main street of the city. In the city you have to take time to walk to the top of the walls enjoying the views. In the central Plaza de la Luza there are several emblematic buildings such as the Sponza Palace, the Church of San Blas or the bell tower. This city is also known for its beaches, such as Banje or Buza. If you are fans of Game of Thrones, surely you can take a guided tour of the places that appeared in the series.
Split
One of the most interesting things that can be seen in Split is Diocletian's Palace. In it you can see the catacombs, which were also part of the Game of Thrones series. In the city you have to take a walk through the maritime area, which is very lively. The ideal place to eat in a restaurant or to find a craft stall. We will also find offers of guided tours around the city. In this city you should also visit the Temple of Jupiter, an ancient temple, or the Cathedral of St. Domnius, one of the oldest preserved Christian buildings.
Plitvice Lakes
Not everything in Croatia are cities with ancient buildings and temples. It is also a country full of incredible natural spaces of great beauty. Another essential that must be seen in the city is the Camarlengo Castle and the tower that was previously attached to the castle. Juan Pablo II Square is its most central place and in it we find the cathedral, the XNUMXth century Ducal Palace or the Cipico Palace. This small city is a quiet place, away from the major tourist centers, hence one of the things we must do is enjoy its small and quiet streets. Its old town is visited in half a day and we can find a terrace to rest.
