La city of Plasencia it is another of those quiet cities that are ideal for a simple weekend getaway. This is a monumental city that really has a lot to see and a very beautiful old town. In addition, it has many green areas where you can rest, so it has everything to be the ideal getaway.

Cathedrals of Plasencia
One of the most interesting things about the city of Plasencia is its monumental area, in which we find two cathedrals, one older and the other known as La New Cathedral of Plasencia. Construction of the Old Cathedral or Catedral de Santa María began in the XNUMXth or XNUMXth century and was not finished until a century later. The peculiarity of these cathedrals is that they are two buildings that have been joined to form a kind of unique cathedral, although of course there are two. Plaza Mayor
If we want to enjoy the liveliest center of the city, we must go to the Plaza Mayor. If we are going to travel to the city in August, we must reserve a Tuesday to enjoy the Big Tuesday festival precisely in this square, where a large market is created. In this square is the Town Hall from the XNUMXth century. You have to look closely at the bell tower, where we will see a figure that is a symbol in the city. It is Grandfather Mayorga. This square is the perfect place to make a stop during the visits and have a drink in the bars, which in summer take out their terraces to enjoy the views of this monumental area.
City walls
The city walls, so well preserved, are another of the things that usually stand out in Plasencia. They have up to 21 towers of the 71 it had, and the gates through which the city was entered, making it an important part of its heritage, so much so that it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest already in 1958. One of the things we should know is that we can also walk through them, to enjoy different views of the city.
